On December 1, 2018, an international academic and theological conference on The Russian Golgotha: Passion-bearers, New-martyrs, and Exiles took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference was organized by the representation of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia in Bulgaria. The sessions of the academic forum were held in the Russian Cultural and Information Centre in Sofia. Saint Tikhon´s Orthodox University of the Humanities was represented by one of its leading faculty members, Dr. Andrei Kostryukov.

Alexander Grinschenko made member of Biblical Commission of International Committee of Slavists
At the 16th International Congress of Slavists in Belgrade (20-27 August 2018), Alexander Igorevich Grinschenko, an Associate Professor of the Department of Modern Russian in the Faculty of Philology at Saint Tikhon´s University, gave a talk on Russo-Slavic Pentateuchs of the 15-16th Centuries with Corrections and Glosses According to the Masoretic Text and Other Semitic Sources: New Linguistic and Textual Information, and was accepted as a member of the Biblical Commission of the International Committee of Slavists.

Alexander Evgenievich Mankov, Senior Research Fellow at the Academic and Administrative Centre of Saint Tikhon´s Orthodox University of the Humanities  (STOUH), who is also a research fellow of the Department of Swedish of Gothenburg University, Sweden,  took part in the 11th Nordic Dialectologists Conference, which convened in Reykjavik, Iceland, from 22-20 August 2018.

Canadian Professor Gives Presentation at Final Medieval Studies Seminar
On 9 June 2018, Professor Natalia Khomenko gave a lecture at the medieval studies seminar of the Department of Romance Languages on Saint Mary of Egypt and Texts as Vestiges of Contact in the South English Legendary Anthology of Saints Lives. An Adjunct Professor at the University of York, she was invited to visit Saint Tikhons University in the context of the project on Genesis of Literary Texts in the Late Mediaeval and Early Modern Era: Interaction of Styles and Genres, which is supported by Saint Tikhons Universitys Endowment Fund.

On 28-29 May 2018, the Head of the Department of History and Theory of Christian Art at Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities, Dr Adriana Alexandra Voronova, took part in an academic conference on Questions on the General History of Architecture.  On 27 May 2018, the Conciliar Chamber of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities witnessed the grand opening of the Third International Absolute Baroque Festival. A performance was given by the Arte Mandolinne assembly from Luxembourg, one of the major European groups that plays Baroque-era music.

From May 14-21, Adjunct Professor Natalia Khomenko of York University, Canada, gave a lecture on medieval culture at the Faculty of Philology of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of Humanities, aimed at students of Germanic and Romance languages.

Visit by Students from Notre Dame University
On May 23, 2018, for the very first time, students from the Catholic University of Notre Dame, near South Bend, Indiana, visited Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities. The guests were given a tour in English and listened to a presentation about the University. An important part of their visit involved the Russian and American students socializing with one another.
Lectures on Christian Marriage by American Sociologist Mark Regnerus
On May 21, 2018, an open lecture on The Future of Christian Marriage was given in the main building of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities by Dr Mark Regnerus, a professor of the University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA. He discussed existing scholarly works on the topics of family and marriage, and presented the results of his own research on Christian families.
Archpriest Georgy Orehanov Gives Talk in Hamburg on Russian Revolution and Emperor Nicholas II
On May 20, 2018, the Russian Centre at Tchaikovsky House in Hamburg, Germany hosted a talk by The Very Rev. Archpriest Dr Georgy Orehanov, a professor at Saint Tikhons University and its Deputy Rector for International Relations. It was titled The Russian Revolution and the Figure of Emperor Nicholas II.
Masters Students and Teachers at Baltiyskaya Mrezha Forum
From April 28-29, 2018, the first Baltiyskaua Mrezha International Forum began its work in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was organized by the Institute for Orthodox Education (Lithuania) with support from the Faculty of Spiritual and Religious Education of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Russia) and the Departments of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities. 
International Cooking Contest

On May 6, 2018, the first ever international cooking contest was held in the Main Building of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities. Approximately 100 people took part in a series of culinary and creative contests, including students from Saint Tikhons University, visitors from other regions of Russia, and foreign students of other Moscow universities from Armenia, Italy, China and, Japan.

From May 5-7, 2018, the eleventh meeting of the Joint Commission for Orthodox-Muslim Dialogue took place, with its topic being Religion and the Environment. The event saw the participation of Archpriest Lev Semenov, the director of the Center for Religious Education at Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities.

Saint Tikhons Teacher Gives Presentation at Purishev Readings

On April 13, 2018, the final plenary session of the 30th Purishev Readings International Academic Conference took place in the hall of the governing body of Moscow State University. At the conference, a teacher from the Faculty of Germanic Languages of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities, Vladimir Markov, gave a paper titled Russian Translations of Shakespeare: Comparative Analysis of Translation Models on the Basis of the Digital Platform VVV.

Lecture on Medieval Worldview Concludes Cycle of Medieval Studies Lectures in the Conciliar Chamber

On March 31, 2018, a lecture on Salvific Untruths. The Worldview of Mediaeval Latin Literature took place in the Conciliar Chamber of the Main Building of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities. It was the sixth and final lecture in the cycle titled Medieval Studies in the Conciliar Chamber, organized by Saint Tikhons University in conjunction with the School of History at the Higher School of Economics (HSE), and was given by HSE Professor Oleg Voskoboinikov.

Saint Tikhons Swedish Language Researcher Receives Visiting Researcher Status in Sweden

Dr Alexander Mankov, Senior Researcher at the Faculty of Mediaeval and Modern Languages (Faculty of Philology) at Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities, has received a scholarship to work for two years as a visiting researcher at the Swedish Institute at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.


On March 24, 2018, a lecture took place in the Conciliar Chamber of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities on Byzantium: What was Royal Terror? It was the fifth lecture in the series Medieval Studies in the Conciliar Chamber, organized by Saint Tikhons University together with the Department of History of the Higher School of Economics (HSE), and it was given by Professor Sergei Arkadievich Ivanov of HSE.

Saint Tikhons University teacher of languages gives presentation on letters from Palermo archive

On March 21, Maria Yurevna Desyatova, the Chair of the Department of Romance Languages at Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities, delivered a paper at the 47th International Academic Conference in Philology at Saint Petersburg State University with a paper on the topic, Sicilian volgare in 14th-century Private Correspondence (session on Romance and Germanic languages).

Saint Tikhons University teacher Natalia Kulkova appointed to Accademia Ambrosiana in Milan

On March 20, 2018, a formal ceremony took place at the Accademia Ambrosiana (Ambrosian Academy) in Milan, Italy at which the Archbishop of Milan and Chancellor of the Academy, Mario Delpini, awarded a formal diploma to Saint Tikhons University teacher Natalia Alexeevna Kulkova, conferring on her the status of Academician of the Accademia Ambrosiana for Saint Ambrose Studies.

Guest lectures on teaching methods given to Saint Tikhons University students

From March 19-20, 2018, Javier Andreo de la Vega, a teacher of philosophy and religion from Spain, gave lectures to the Department of Teacher Training of Saint Tikhons Orthodox University of the Humanities, as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Faculty of Teacher Training and that of Medieval and Modern Languages. The sessions were attended by students of all specializations from the Departments of Teacher Training and of the Methodology of Primary School Education, as well as that of Romance Languages.
